STAMP in Old City
The STAMP program will be hosting its next event in Old City. Teens will have the chance to visit the African American Museum in Philadelphia, National Liberty Museum, National Constitution Center, National Museum of American Jewish History, the Philadelphia History Museum, and the Independence Visitor Center. Saturday, August 15
Frankford Community Day
The event will feature: resources tables from all of our non-profits, City, State, and Federal departments that directly deal with social, economic, and health services. In addition, the event will offer different areas for children such as: arcade games, moon bounce/slides, carnival games and face painting. A youth basketball game, Double-Dutch competition, and Gospel Concert will be featured throughout the day. The youth basketball game and double-dutch competition will take place during the first half of the day and the Gospel concert will close out the event. We are planning to send all the kids home with book bags and supplies to prepare for upcoming school year.

Highlights from July

July 10, 2015
Strawberry Mansion Cleanup
PhillyRising together with members of the Faith Temple Church of God and interns from the Mayor’s Internship Program collaborated on Friday afternoon to conduct a cleanup in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood. Participants Strawberry Mansion cleanupof the cleanup grabbed their gloves and picked up their cleaning tools and began sprucing up West Cumberland Avenue from North Douglass Street to North 32nd Street. During this cleanup weeds were removed, sidewalks were swept, and trash was compiled for removal in preparation for a Unity Day event hosted by Faith Temple Church of God.

Kids Club of Centro Nueva Creaccion
It was a pleasure to witness a fantastic ending to a great week with our future leaders- the kids club of Centro Nueva Creaccion. Thanks to the Executive Director, Maribel Lozada and Pastor Lissette Rios of New Creation Lutheran Church, putting together a great event. Special thanks to the residents and block captain who came out to volunteer. Together we will keep PhillyRising!

Strawberry Mansion Community Cookout
Hundreds of community residents made their way to the Mander Recreation Center to participate in the Strawberry Mansion Community Cookout hosted by the NET CUA 7. Parents/guardians had a chance to learn about NET Community Care and the services that they provide while their children waited in line to get their face painted and paritcipate in other fun activities at the park. Throughout the cookout community residents could be seen enjoying the food, music, weather, and atmosphere on a pleasant Thursday afternoon.

July 25, 2015South Phila cleanup
PhillyRising South Philly Cleanup
On July 25th PhillyRising hosted a clean-up of 8 overgrown lots on the 600 block of Winton Street in South Philadelphia. The clean-up was a great collaboration of a lot of partners including, the 3rd Police District, CLIP, Town Watch Integrated Services, Councilman Squilla’s Office, Focused Deterrence, Mural Arts, 7th Street Civic Association, South Philadelphia Prevention Coalition, community residents and many more.
