Ohio State University Volunteers in Philadelphia
In mid-March volunteers from the Ohio State University Buck-I-Serv program visited Philadelphia to engage in various beautification projects throughout the city. From the moment the volunteers arrived in Philadelphia they were ready and eager to make positive changes in various neighborhoods. During their week of service they completed 10 lot cleanups, repainted park equipment at 2 recreation centers, 3 neighborhood cleanups, and constructed 2 flower beds at William D. Kelley School. As the Buck-I-Serv volunteers pushed through their projects community residents stopped by to thank them for their amazing efforts. PhillyRising thanks our Buck-I-Serv partners for their remarkable work!

PhillyRising Best Meeting
PhillyRising kicked off its first Best Meeting on Saturday, March 21st at the Diversified Communities Services-Dixon House located in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Philadelphia. The Best Meeting was introduced as a strategy to enhance community residents’ level of accessibility to City services. The Best Meeting is technology driven which means that community residents can meet one-on-one with representatives from different City agencies to review and electronically submit service requests. Through the use of technology at the Best Meeting City agencies will be able to expedite service delivery. As a result of this Best Meeting 230 service requests were successful submitted that day. There are plans to host a Best Meeting in each PhillyRising neighborhood throughout the year to ensure that community residents have easier access to city services.
