AmeriCorps NCCC Cleans Up With Serve Philadelphia

May 18, 2012 – AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is working with Serve Philadelphia and PhillyRising Collaborative to clean alleys, abandoned lot revitalization and support urban gardening projects. “I am thrilled to have an AmeriCorps NCCC team here in Philadelphia. The corps members’ hard work will yield great results for residents and make our city safer, greener and cleaner,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. Executive Director of the Providence Center Bethany Welch stated that “The team has made a great contribution to the Fairhill neighborhood by helping us build a fence around a new community garden”. Executive Director Cheryl Weiss of Diversified Community
Services states that “Because our missions are so closely aligned – to build community through service… and leadership, Diversified Community Services is honored to partner [work with] with AmeriCorps on various improvement projects in Point Breeze”.
